We started this blog back in the summer of 2008 when we really didn't know much about blogging. We just wanted to keep an online journal of our pregnancy, so that maybe one day our son could read all about it. Then it seemed like a really good place to write about all his day-to-day activities and major milestones after he was born. Then blogging took off, and it became a good outlet for me to share my thoughts and feelings about being a Mom with other Moms in the blogging community (though I write more non-family specific posts on my other blog, Mama Dish).
In March 2010, our little family of four-- Matt, Brady, Tinley (our Maltipoo) & I -- moved from Chicago, where we were born and raised, to Northern California for Matt's job. It was very hard to move away from all our family and friends and start a new life where we knew virtually no one. I quit my job at the advertising agency I had worked at for over 9 years and became a stay-at-home mom. To help ease the transition, and give me the creative outlet I was craving, I got more involved in social media and blogging. It quickly became a vital form of communication with all our loved ones back home, so they could watch Brady grow and stay abreast on "all things Eatherton".
Though it's not a permanent residence (we plan to move back to Chicago at some point), we are enjoying all that a California lifestyle has to offer... like playing outside 12 months out of the year, going on trips to new cities, exploring wine country, camping, going to the beach, etc. We've managed to create a nice little life in Silicon Valley, and I write all about it here!
This summer, we gave birth to our second son, Cole Joseph. With piercing blue eyes and a pinch of brown hair, he is big baby boy that's had a larger than life presence since the day he was born. We are enjoying getting to know the newest member of our family and hope you will too!
