our family just got a little more blue.

No, I don't mean sad.
In fact, it's just the opposite.
We were ecstatic to learn on Valentine's Day that
we are having another healthy baby BOY!

While we didn't get "the" shot, like we did with Brady
(dare we say this one is more reserved already?!)
We can't help but chuckle at this photo
at the way his hand is positioned.
Could he be giving us the sign for "drink, please?!"

Yep, definitely a boy!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day didn't go exactly as planned this year... but things never do most days! Brady came down with a bug (fever and... more) on Monday, so he ended up missing school and his Valentine's party. I was so bummed for him because he was really excited about it. We made super cute (and super cheap!) photo valentines at Walmart and I was able to drop them off so his friends got them.

{adorable, right?!}

I was also in a panic because I thought this meant that Matt would have to stay home with him and miss our "find out the sex" ultrasound. But Brady was in good enough spirits Tuesday morning (a breakfast with pink heart-shaped pancakes, candy and other presents will do that to a little boy), so we decided to take him along. We thought he might even be excited to see the images of his baby sibling. He was not. In fact, he kept asking when he could go back home to eat more candy!

This was the first year we went "all out" for Valentine's Day and we had such a good time. I can't wait for the years to come!!

Moms with little girls may get to dress up their Valentines in cute heart shirts and pink tutus, but I get to buy obnoxious t-shirts for my little dude. This one says, "Most Eligible Bachelor". Ain't it the truth?! And ladies, he is an animal lover too (pictured here with "Foxy Loxy" and "Bailey", his newest stufties)!

Despite having the sickies, Brady ended up having a pretty good day. We took Daddy to a quick lunch before dropping him at work, then we spent the rest of the afternoon on the couch vegging out and watching movies! Not too long ago, I was spending my Valentine's Days at some of Chicago's finest restaurants. This year, my date and I had chicken nuggets and mac n cheese... and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way! I hope everyone else had a fantastic day.

And no... I am not neglecting to share news about the baby in this post by accident. Those of you who are on FB already know, but I'm saving the "announcement" for this week's Project 52, so stay tuned!!

Big Week Ahead!

Valentine's Day and "Find Out The Sex Day" is this week! Same day, actually. We're all abuzz in the Eatherton household... don't know if we can make it 2 more days. Hard to believe we're almost at the midway point of the pregnancy too (18 weeks today). This is when I start packing on lbs., so we thought we'd take our first photo to chronicle the growth.

I'm a little bigger than I was with Brady at this point (they say you show faster with #2), but not too big yet. If you're wondering why I looked bigger at 13 weeks that I do at 17 weeks, well, I was trying to be dramatic for the photo's sake back then (the "announcement" photo/post).

Here is Baby E #2 a couple days ago, at 17 weeks... the size of a turnip.

Onward and outward!

our family works well together.

As much as I would love a little girl,
having a house full of boys certainly has its advantages.
They love to spend time outdoors; even if it means
rolling up their sleeves and doing some manual labor.
They never shy away from getting a little dirty.

Scrub the dirty decks? Sure.
Clear all the spiderwebs? No problem.
Pick up the doogie doo-doo? You got it Mom.

A Mom could get used to this.

Reese has arrived!

Late Tuesday night (2/7), 2 days before her due date, our niece Reese Elizabeth arrived in true Eatherton fashion... via c-section after being found in breech presentation at 40 weeks! Sound familiar?!

We were so excited to get the news (luckily we're on PST, so we were still awake to hear) and we couldn't wait to tell Brady in the morning. For the last few months, Brady has been calling their baby Rory (we have no idea where he got that name), so I was a little worried he would have trouble calling her Reese... but he made the switch with no problem at all!

It's very hard for us to be away and not be with Justin, Megan and Reese during this exciting time, but we were able to Skype with them in the hospital today and see the little beauty "live". She has a full head of dark hair and so far has many features that resemble her Daddy. I can't wait to see her in person and get all that new baby snuggling in. 4 weeks to go!!

We've only gotten a few pics so far, but here are the first shots of our beautiful new niece, Reese Elizabeth Eatherton!

Just born! 6 lbs., 10 oz. Tiny girl!!

Winter Update, Brady-style

Hi people! It's Brady. It's been a long time since I last blogged, so I figured I'd drop by and give you all an update on what's been going on with the fam here in NorCal.

I've been very busy with school, playdates and other activities. A lot of my friends have been turning 3, so I've been making my way around the birthday party circuit. Did you know that people in CA have their birthday parties at parks? In January? Crazy, right? I'm getting really good at whacking a pinata, and at collecting party favors and candy.

I've been taking a gymnastics class for the last few months and last week I graduated from KinderStars to MiniStars. My Mom is really happy, but I think that's because she can now watch me during class from a chair while she drinks her coffee, instead of actually helping me. Silly Mommy.

I've been practicing syllables during mealtimes and I'm getting really good. Ea-ther-ton. 3 syllables. And recently we've started working on basic math. Did you know that if you 3 cookies and Daddy eats one, that only leaves 2 cookies?! Sometimes these math "lessons" make me really angry.

As you know, my Mom is pregnant and her belly is starting to get big. She said that pretty soon she's going to have trouble carrying me, but I think the bump makes a good chair. I told her that I only want a brother (that's a boy, right?), because then we can play trucks and stuff together. She said I'll probably get my wish. We find out for sure if it's a brother or sister next Tuesday, so keep your eyes open for that announcement.

Valentine's Day is a hot topic around our house. I've specifically asked for the following things-- trucks, Kit Kats, Snickers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and jelly beans. I think I should get a truck for every holiday. Wanna know what I'm giving my Mom? Flowers and cash. Yep, a "bunch of cash".

My Mom is starting a YouTube channel for this blog, so she can begin sharing the hours and hours of video footage she takes of me. You are really missing out on my gymnastic and singing skills by her keeping all the movies on her phone. She said she hopes to have links up soon.

Other than that, we're just enjoying a mild winter and trying to get out of the house as much as possible. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new cousin, who is due this Thursday. Aunt Megan and Uncle Justin are at their doctor's appointment right now, so who knows, maybe she'll be here by tomorrow! I'm not 100% thrilled with the idea of having 2 girl cousins; this is why it's important for my Mom and Dad to keep cranking out the boys.

Thanks for following along. Two new announcements to come soon so check back often!!

xo,
Brady

the baby is a little ripe

{Size of Baby E no. 2, 16 weeks}

This week, our little “peanut” is actually a little “avocado”.

Last week, s/he was an apple. A medium-sized shrimp the
week before. I think it’s humorous to compare the
growth of my developing child with food, considering food
is pretty much all a pregnant woman can think about.
But it’s actually been fun sharing those details with
Brady; it’s something tangible that he can understand.

Imagine his terror last night though, when his baby brother/sister
became dinner… What can I say, it was Taco Thursday!
