Is that my little baby?!

It is so hard to believe that 8 weeks have gone by since Brady was born. I know it's been said a thousand times before... but time really flies once you have kids! I look at my little monkey man today and cannot fathom that he once resided in my uterus (glad he wasn't an 11 lb baby, yikes!)

The changes that have taken place over the last 8 weeks, while just the tip of the iceberg, are astounding to me. I'm continually amazed at how I can actually watch him learn new things-- for instance, he used to scream bloody murder when he got his diaper changed, a bath, or when we put him in his car seat. Then gradually, he started to realize, "hey, this isn't so bad!", and has actually learned to enjoy all of those activities. In the last few days, he's begun reaching for his rattles and Matt's face, he's figured out that those little hands belong to him and they DO fit in his mouth, and the highlight of my week... he's actually started to giggle a little. Not a full out laugh yet, but definitely more than a smile. It's enough to send a girl over the moon!

He's getting so strong and I know it's just a matter of time until he's holding his head up on his own. He likes to be propped up when being carried so he can soak in the world around him; no more staring at the ceiling for Brady! For all these things, and more, I find myself asking... "is that my little baby?!"

Yep, she came down!

The corner of Vine and Gillick will never be the same...for good reasons!  Demo started bright and early today.  Here's what they were doing at 7am on 2/17 to get the project started:

Here's a pretty cool look at how they knocked down the chimney:

Here's a lengthier video of the middle section of the house.  Notice the larger "outer" wall that seems to lean towards the equipment as he's wrecking the structure:

And, finally, the last walls come down.  Just 45 minutes after they started.  Pretty incredible....80+ year old house that we lived in for 30+ years...gone in less than an hour.

Brady loves playdates!

In the last few days, Brady has had two very fun playdates. We just love making new friends!! Last week, we went up to Wrigleyville and met Emilee and Caroline Wolfe and Emily and Jack Walker for the first time. Brady spent most of the day sleeping (riding in the car just has a way with him!), but once he woke up, we were able to snap these shots...

Who's that munchkin in the middle?!

Brady likes his ladies a little older :)

Then, today, Auntie Denise was CRAZY enough to have all the ladies and babies over to her house for the largest playdate I've ever seen... 14 kids total! Again, Brady spent most of the day asleep, but we got a rare shot of all the Chicago kids together (we missed you Orr-Depners and Bertelsens!)

All the kiddos!

60 degrees in February... is this Chicago?!

Last Tuesday, Brady and I got out of the house and enjoyed the fresh air on our very first walk! We just had to take advantage of a 60 degree day in Chicago... in February. I loved every minute of it, Brady was a little unsure of all the cracks in the sidewalks. I think he'll come around though... if we can ever get back outside (nothing but 20s, 30s and 40s for the next 10 days!)

Is she really coming down?

Well, it's been 2-3 years in the making...the 80+ year old bungalow that the Eatherton family called home for 30+ years is on a collision course with demolition equipment in the very near future.

After lots of thought and analysis, it just made the most sense for mom and dad to stay in the town they love, surrounded by family and friends they love, while investing in themselves.  We're super excited to watch the progress of the new house being built.  It's about time that mom and dad did something big for themselves after doing so much for our family over the years.  We love you mom and dad!

Here are a couple pics with the house nearly empty in late January when we had an estate sale to get rid of some junk.  Demolition and architect signs were already up...

The neighbors came over for beer/pizza on one of their last nights in the house and graffiti'd the walls with a bunch of funny/thoughtful things...

And finally, here are some recent pics in early February with all of the fencing and signage up.  Word is, demolition is scheduled to start on 2/17.  Craziness.  If/when it happens this week, I'm going to try and get out there to get some film footage, so more goodness to come!

Fun on the changing table!

For whatever reason, Brady is the most smiley and talkative while getting his diaper changed. He "coos" and "gaaas" up a storm! While not the best quality, here is a sampling of what I get to see every day...

Sneezin', barfin', laughin', smilin'...the works!

I finally got around to saving/editing some of our videos of Braden.  I thought this one was one of the better ones.  It pretty much sums up a number of things that he's good at these days.  Well, minus the cryin', poopin', tootin', and peein'!  Hard to believe that we get all of this at 6 weeks.  He's so dang cute and so much fun to be with.

Superbowl baby!

A good luck charm? Perhaps! Brady watched his very first Superbowl today and supported his Dad's favorite football team (of late) by wearing his little Roethlisberger jersey... and the Steelers won! The boys in my house are happy tonight.

What else did we do this week? Well, Grandma and Grandpa Stetzer and Amanda came out to visit us on Sunday, to celebrate Grandma's birthday. Brady had a lot of fun hanging with Grandpa in the Boppy seat...

Brady had his 1 month check up on Monday and did very well. He weighed in at a whopping 9lbs 12oz, which puts him in the 50th percentile for his age. His head, however, ranked in the 95th percentile... so hopefully that means he's going to be a smarty. Otherwise, he'll just fall over a lot :)

On Friday, Auntie Susie came out to visit us with Ashlynn and Danny and we had such a fun day. Actually, Brady slept in his swing the entire time, something he rarely does! But Ashlynn cracked us up by hanging out without her pants on...

Yesterday, we visited Grandma and Grandpa Eatherton at their "temporary home" in Des Plaines; Aunt Megan, Uncle Justin and Aunt Lindsay were there too!

Riding in the car is fun!

Other than that, we just hung out at home and drove Tinley crazy. Here are some other random pictures of my "5th week"...
